Congrats, JP and Stefanie!

Maternity sessions are one of my very favorites… I absolutely love capturing this magical time with mamas-to-be! Stefanie was absolutely radiant with that expectant-mama glow, and I am so excited for she and JP – I know that they are going to be wonderful parents! Sofie will be a lucky girl

There are so many beautiful locations in Charleston for maternity sessions – or any type of portrait session! Stefanie had the idea of using Crosby’s Seafood on Folly Beach… what a perfect place for this Charleston maternity session! Lots of high-contrast colors, a varied and dramatic background… I’ll definitely be making use of this spot again.

A Wedding at Pepper Plantation

I shot my first wedding at Pepper Plantation last spring, and it has since become one of my very favorite Charleston wedding venues. Every wedding that I have done there so far has been on a day that is forecasted to have rain, which has made for gorgeous, dramatic skies, yet the rain has never interfered with the days’ events. This day was no different! We had spots of radiant sunshine along with intensely colored stormclouds — the perfect backdrop for captivating portraits — and although a few raindrops fell during the ceremony, the heavy rains held off until after the “important” outside events. It was, again, another amazing wedding day at Pepper Plantation!

I love the “rustic chic” theme… complete with mason jars of all sizes, of course… and this venue lends itself perfectly to that.  I spent ten hours with the bride so was able to capture everything, from the first “getting ready” moments to her and the groom’s departure under a canopy of sparklers, and it all came together to form a patchwork of beautiful moments strung together to tell a vivid, colorful story of her day.

Days like this make me feel very privileged to have the job that I do – I absolutely love working with couples to create and capture memories that will continue to tell their story throughout the rest of their lives… especially in such beautiful locations!

Congratulations, Dan and Mary!

I had the unique opportunity this past weekend to capture a vow renewal ceremony here on Folly Beach. Dan and Mary have been married for 10 years and have planned, since their wedding day, to renew their vows on Folly Beach for their 10^th anniversary.

There was so much thought put into every detail of this evening to make it special and memorable…  As a gift to their guests, the couple arranged for each family to have a “mini” portrait session before the ceremony – what a great idea! As the majority of them came from Atlanta, the portraits will be a great memory of their time at the beach as well as of the event.

Dan and Mary are partners, best friends, and still absolutely crazy about each other! I loved witnessing their renewed commitment to each other and wish them even more happiness and joy in their next ten years together!

Congratulations, Sophie and Gerig!

Every bride hopes it won’t rain on her wedding day and Sophie was no exception, but March 23^rd came and it not just rained, it POURED! Monsoon style.  And she embraced it with so much vibrant, contagious joy that I knew that this wedding – this couple – was something special and unique. And in my opinion, the fact that it rained made the day more special and unique as well! The wedding was at Sugah Cane plantation on Johns Island, and it was gorgeous.

They brought out an umbrella to keep the bride and groom semi-dry as we went outside to do some couple portraits, but I wanted to incorporate it into the shots… and I absolutely loved the results!

Sophie and Gerig have something beautiful, and I felt privileged to witness this start of their life together… I am confident that it is going to be a great one!

Congratulations, David and Regina!

Beautiful couple, beautiful weather, a new venue… I loved everything about this day!

I first met David and Regina last June and shot their engagement session a month later, so we have all been looking forward to this day for awhile! The wedding took place at Harborside East in Mount Pleasant, a fairly new venue, and one that I had not shot at before… What a gorgeous location for a wedding! It overlooks the Harbor and the Ravenell Bridge, which is the perfect background setting for portraits.

March is one of our most unpredictable months weather-wise which can make planning an outdoor Charleston wedding a bit risky, but we were very fortunate…it was perfect!

This couple and their wedding party were so much fun to work with, and their personalities come through in the portraits… you guys are great!

It’s Spring on the Beach!

Spring has finally come to the beach… and it has brought all of its temperamental moods with it! The past week has alternated between sun and warmth, and angry skies, pouring rain, and brutal winds. This made my four scheduled beach sessions a bit of a challenge, but only one had to be cancelled… Two of them were done in less than ideal weather (think COLD!!) but these families were hardcore and braved it out… and we got some wonderful portraits.

It’s almost summertime on Folly Beach! Time to get all of those Folly Beach family portrait sessions scheduled 🙂
