Happy Birthday, Ella Grace!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of capturing little Ella Grace’s 1-year-old birthday celebration at Splash Island in Mount Pleasant. A water park is such a perfect children’s birthday spot, with fun for all ages (including the adults!) — particularly on such a hot summer day like this one. Ella was an absolute doll in her little suit and hat, and I was so happy to have a part in wishing her a happy birthday.

I couldn’t help but smile the whole time I was editing these portraits, with so many adorable little faces on my screen… such fun!! I love my job.

I captured this angel face last December on her first birthday… can’t believe how much she’s changed!

My favorite moment of the celebration… Ella’s definitely a fan of birthday cake!

Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

The Bride and Groom To Be…

What a beautiful Saturday for an engagement session! David, Regina, and the lovely Alyssa met me early at Charleston’s Waterfront Park to avoid (some of) the day’s heat, and we packed the hour full of portraits and fun.

Laughter always makes for my favorite portrait sessions, and there was plenty of it during this one… this couple is so much such fun to work with! Friendship is the most important foundation for a relationship, and I am so happy when I can witness that as clearly as I do with Regina and David.

Congratulations Regina and David! You make such a beautiful couple and I am excited for your wedding next year.

The Hughey Family at Edisto

Most of my portrait sessions are at Folly Beach or elsewhere in the Charleston area, so I was excited to drive down to Edisto Beach last week to work with the Hugheys and explore some new territory!

It was a WINDY evening on the beach but the light — and this family — were gorgeous.

Love these smiles!

The family welcomed another precious arrival into their family earlier this year who is no longer with them on earth, but is still very much a cherished family member in their hearts. I thought it was so special that Braxton was a part of our portrait session, as well.

Thank you for allowing me to work with your sweet family — I hope to see you all next year 🙂

Congratulations Robin and Perry!

I know I’ve said it before, but I love Love, and one of the best aspects of being a wedding and portrait photographer is the opportunity to witness it — up close and personal — so frequently! Some of the couples that step in front of my lens are at the stage where love is at its freshest and shiniest (i.e. engaged lovebirds and newlyweds!) and others are at that stage where love has settled in like a favorite old coat, comfortable in its familiarity, awe-inspiring in its constancy (like my lovely couple celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary last week). Different and unique, every one of them, and I love witnessing all of the various expressions of love — they are all equally beautiful.

Robin and Perry are still very much near the newlywed end of the spectrum, and I was so happy to celebrate their 2-year-anniversary with them!

Meet the Stars of this blog entry…

Robin…

and Perry!

They met about 12 years ago and when Perry asked her to be his bride two years ago, Robin said yes… and they were married within the week!

They drove in from Florence this past weekend for an anniversary celebration… and what better location for wedding anniversary portraits than Folly Beach?!

The strong ties of friendship evidenced in their fun and easygoing relationship will serve them well in the years to come as they continue to walk out their love adventure together.

Thank you for choosing Selador Images and giving me the opportunity to capture this special time in your lives! I wish you both many more years of love and happiness.
